Authorities members of the crisis cell today convened at a new meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations. The participants in the event unveiled reports on interventions made to remove the consequences of the last week heavy snowfall.

In the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Pavel Filip repeatedly offered thanks to those involved in managing the emergency situation. “Thank you for the involvement you have proved. I am grateful to all policemen, servicemen, physicians who got involved directly in the removal of the bad weather’s consequences. Also, I express gratitude to all those who made donations to this end,” the Prime Minister said.    

According to the reports presented, the cell crisis continues to work non-stop, being focused preponderantly on the re-establishment of the supply with electric energy of 26 settlements from six districts and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, which still remain unconnected.   

The most complicated situation is recorded in the southern Cahul district, where a high-tension line fell and its re-establishment will last more days. Although an alternative solution of provision with electricity was found through a lower-intensity line, it does not have needed capacity to supply with power all the settlements hit. In the context, the prime minister stressed the necessity to fully use the present generators.    

As for the settlements hit by the bad weather in other districts, they are to be reconnected today, with 22 specialized teams involved to this end. Also, 150 teams will check and test the functionality of equipments in all settlements affected by the calamity.

Another aspect managed by the crisis cell represents the risks of floods in the Comrat city. As many as 635 households are in danger and interventions to pump water have been already made in over 100 ones.   

As for the state of roads, the blocking of the road segment L443 from the central Straseni district was reported, in the wake of the filling with mud of the Bic river bed. In the context, the Environment Ministry said that similar situations are registered in this region in case of heavy rains, with the full cleaning of the Bic river bed scheduled with the means of a grant provided by Romania. At the same time, interventions were made in the Bic river in the Anenii Noi zone, in order to avoid the risk of floods.   

Not in the least, the PM warned about the need to clean the roads and yards of the trees and branches fallen in the wake of the bad weather. “The potential of the structures members of the crisis cell should be used at the maximum. Keep in touch with the local authorities, let everybody say what forces they need, in order to correctly manage the capacities we avail of,” Pavel Filip said.
