The cabinet today approved the National Regional Development Strategy for 2016-2020. The document aims to ensure the sustainable development of Moldova’s regions.

The new regional development policy aims to ensure the citizens’ access to professional public services, boost up sustainable economic growth in the region and improve the normative and legislative framework on the sustainable development of Moldovan settlements.

The document also encourages the development of local economic agents and backs the entrepreneurial activity, in order to reduce development differences between and within regions and also improve life standards.

The National Regional Development Strategy for 2016-2020 was carried out in compliance with the commitments provided in Moldova-EU Association Agreement and goals of “Moldova 2020” National Development Strategy.

The document is to be submitted to the parliament for examination and adoption.
