Pavel Filip at the CIS summit: Moldova will continue actively participating in actions of modernizing the national economies

Prime Minister Pavel Filip today participated in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.     

 

In a speech given at the enlarged meeting, Prime Minister Pavel Filip reiterated Moldova’s interest in boosting and versifying the economic and commercial cooperation within CIS both at the bilateral and the multilateral levels, including by fully enforcing the Free Trade Agreement within the Commonwealth, signed in St Petersburg on 18 October 2011. At the same time, the Prime Minister said that it was important that the member countries remove the artificial obstacles which stagnate the commercial changes.  

 

‘’We will continue actively participating in actions of modernizing the national economies, efficiently using the infrastructure of transports and energy networks, carrying out the economic potential and the one of ensuring Moldova’s food security. Within the Commonwealth of Independent States, Moldova set as priorities ensuring the free circulation of citizens, deepening the trade and economic  cooperation in the social, cultural and humanitarian sectors,’’ Prime Minister Pavel Filip said.  

 

At the same time, the prime minister said that, in the context of the changes taking place worldwide, as well as of the new regional challenges, the member states should provide increased attention to modernising and optimizing the organization, as well as to cooperation in jointly fighting the offences committed with the help of information technologies, terrorism and other forms of aggression and extremism. ‘’Obviously that by settling the problems dealing with the new forms of threats, the strengthening of the cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as deepening the diplomatic relations and boosting the bilateral changes in the scientific, technological and information fields continue to remain in the focus of attention,’’ Pavel Filip added.   

 

At the meeting, Moldova signed a string of multilateral agreements, such as the one on cooperation in cultural sector, ensuring cyber security, as well on declaring 2017 as family year and 2018 as culture year in the CIS area. Also, the participants in the meeting adopted a Joint Declaration of the Commonwealth of Independent States member countries on the 70th anniversary of the end of the works of the Nurnberg trials.

 

At the same time, the leaders of the CIS member states stood silent for a while and conveyed condolences to Uzbekistan on the death of President Islam Karimov.
