Prime Minister Pavel Filip asks authorities to efficiently cooperate to cope with bad weather conditions

Prime Minister Pavel Filip convened today the meeting of commission for emergencies in connection with difficult weather conditions, caused by heavy snowfalls and low temperatures.  

 

The prime minister said he kept on being informed about the measures taken by the authorities and stressed the need to maintain, continue to mobilize maximum intervention in due time and provide the necessary assistance to citizens, snow removal of roads to ensure traffic, unlocking access to institutions of social importance.

 

In this context, he thanked the officers for the work done so far, stressing the importance of close collaboration between authorities. "I refer to the recent cases, when doctors at emergency, with rescuers braved blizzard and drifts to take from home three pregnant women and safely transport them to the hospital. A woman, named Parascovia Gaidarli from Taraclia, already gave birth to a boy named Artiom," said Pavel Filip.

 

The prime minister asked the responsible on the fields to report on current situation in each sector. Consequently, Civil Protection and Emergencies representatives reported the situation to be under control, with no cities disconnected from electricity, while in transport sectors with blocked movement, employees of responsible institutions were working non-stop to unlock routes. According to the latest information in Cahul has been stopped circulation for heavy traffic, in Cantemir, it is blocked a portion of Visniovca – Comrat route, in Causeni and Stefan Voda, there is difficulty moving around six villages.

 

According to the Ministry of Transports and Road Infrastructure, there are involved 232 transport units and 185 workers at snow works, which have 54 thousand tons of slip material.

 

In this context, the prime minister asked the authorities in charge from localities of Moldova to ensure snow removal not only on the main roads, but on the secondary roads and sidewalks, where citizens walk.

 

"It is approaching the holiday of Saint Vasile and the New Year according to the old style. People will move around more these days. That is why, I call on the authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure the movement of citizens to the destination and guarantee their security," said the prime minister.

 

At the same time, Pavel Filip asked to be ensured continuous information to citizens about the work of state border crossings where are currently registered blockages in relation to heavy snow routes in neighbouring countries, Romania and Ukraine.

 

The prime minister also requested to be taken all appropriate measures to ensure circulation of pupils to schools and activity of educational institutions.
