Prime Minister Pavel Filip has held a news briefing on the outcomes of his visit to Brussels on March 14-15.

The prime minister said that, both the meeting of the Moldova – European Union Association Council and the meetings with the high officials, held within the visit, had been extremely important for re-establishing the relations with the European partners and advancing on the road of implementing Moldova’s reforms’ agenda.

“The European partners showed full support for the Moldovan authorities. Ninety five per cent of the topics discussed were focused on the determination of the  present government and parliamentary majority to do in a short period what has been promised over more years. The European partners encouraged the Moldovan cabinet to promote the reforms,” the prime minister stressed.

“The Association Council recognized the efforts taken by Moldova to prepare a clear-cut plan of priority reforms in the key fields, contained in the Roadmap submitted to the European Union and made public by the government and parliament,” Pavel Filip said. The prime minister also said the meeting of the Association Council marked a return to a normal dialogue with the European partners. Filip reiterated the cabinet’s firm determination to continue the reforms at a high tempo and overcome the arrears in implementing the Association Agreement.

According to the prime minister, the visit to Brussels represented a first step in re-establishing the trust and dialogue with the European institutions, as well as a nationwide catalyst or organisation and mobilization, which allowed unveiling the first results in a relatively short period. “We have not promised and neither will we promise, at home either, anything that we cannot do. Me and the ministers of this cabinet will work and come up with deeds. This was my message in this visit, this is the message I convey to us, those who live here, also upon return,” the prime minister added.
