The assessment of the current situation and the measures to be taken further were the main topics discussed during the meeting of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

However, the most urgent need is to reconnect localities to electricity. The Head of the Executive asked the Civil Protection and Exceptional Situations Service to inventory the available generators and distribute them to the affected institutions and localities. In the context, members of the Crisis Cell reported that 140 intervention teams were working to reconnect localities to electricity, and the worst situation was in the South in Cahul district. So far, more than 100 localities were re-connected to the power source.

"In the most difficult times, such as natural calamities, we have to show solidarity, this being a maturity test for all. The Crisis Cell operates on a non-stop basis and my appeal to the citizens is to refrain from travelling tomorrow, too, until the specialized institutions carry out the necessary works for roads unblocking," said Premier.

The Chief Executive also urged citizens in crisis situations to call emergency services, and the Crisis Cell would react promptly. Over 700 requests have been received from the population up till now.

Another topic referred to by Pavel Filip concerned the farmers and the necessary measures to assess the losses caused by climatic conditions. In this respect, agricultural producers were urged to call the hotline 022 232384 for assistance. Returning to the theme of solidarity, Pavel Filip brought the example of passengers blocked at airports who wanted to go home and taxi drivers demanded more than 300 lei: "We are going to face the same problem in agriculture, those who will come up with different chemicals for Eliminating the consequences of natural disasters, not to come up with increased prices, now that farmers are at hardest," said Premier.

Also, at the meeting it was stated that all medical institutions were functional in the normal mode, having medicines and food for the next 24 hours.

Regarding the practicability of roads, the opening of 29 sectors on national routes and the reopening of the International Airport were reported. Currently, only two border crossing points in the South of Moldova remain blocked.
