Attending the meeting were Ilie Cazac's mother Stelea Surchecean and Deputy Premier for Reintegration Eugen Carpov.
Vlad Filat expressed interest first of all in the health condition of Ilie, who had suffered a lot during his detention, and thanked him for the dignified behaviour he had displayed. Filat said the Moldovan government had spared no effort to set him free as soon as possible.
Ilie Cazac appreciated the Moldovan authorities' actions to set him free, noting that the support provided to him and to his family was truly helpful. He said that this support had helped him morally to overcome easier the difficult period of detention.
Filat assured Ilie and his parents that they would benefit from the necessary medical assistance to improve their health condition, as well as from government assistance.
"Due to the government, we managed to set Ilie free. Thank you for involvement and for the fact that you care about the problems of people from the left bank of the Dniester. We were and are citizens of Moldova," she said.
For his part, Filat thanked Ilie's parents for their resistance during their son's detention.
"I thank you for having been strong and for having resisted. For our part, we will create the conditions needed to reintegrate the country. I apologize for the pains you have been subjected to and we will do our best to fend off cases like this," Filat said.
