Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița spoke on the phone with Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission. The two officials examined the priorities of the new Government in Chisinau, the association agenda, and especially the EU assistance for our country.

Natalia Gavrilița thanked the European official for the support and assistance provided by the EU institutions and EU member states to the Republic of Moldova.

"European integration is one of the new government's strategic priorities. We will make every effort to boost our cooperation with the EU, but also to advance the implementation of the Association Agreement. We plan to focus on a series of essential reforms for citizens, but also for our relations with the EU - justice reform and the fight against corruption ", mentioned Natalia Gavrilița.

The Prime Minister stressed that the immediate steps of the new government include the adoption of laws and decisions necessary to access the second tranche of macro-financial assistance amounting to 50 million euros, including changes to improve the verification of assets and interests and the adoption of the new Customs Code.

The two officials also discussed the completion of the new association agenda, which will set priorities and objectives for the next seven years and to be adopted at the next Moldova-EU Association Council. The senior European official invited Prime Minister Gavrilița to pay a visit to Brussels in late September.
