Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today participated in the ceremony on the opening of the Moldova Business Week Forum, titled, Moldova – relocation destination and solution for the regional supply chain. This year too, the event brought together decision-makers, experts of Moldova and from abroad, whose mission is to identify the best opportunities and solutions in order to enhance the visibility and repositioning of Moldova internationally.

In her greeting speech, the PM referred to the importance of organizing this event on a period when there was uncertainty as to the energy, food and humanitarian security and in which the need of adaptability and predictability was imperative.

„The war in Ukraine has dramatic consequences not only on the ordinary citizens, but also on businesses, hitting the basic functionalities in the states from the region and not only. The world which we have known so far is quickly changing and we must be prepared to cope with it. On this period, Moldova showed itself as a stable and receptive partner, providing solutions to refugees, business and disturbed supply chains, for transit of goods, temporary or permanent business relocations. Through all which we do, we want to contribute to peace, stability, growth for the country, citizens and the business environment,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.

The prime minister enumerated the latest measures taken by the cabinet, meant to back the citizens and the economy on the cold period of the year, in order to promote the energy efficiency and the use of alternative energy resources. ‘’The country must have energy in order to grow; the business must have energy to produce and maintain jobs. In this respect, I am happy to have by our side faithful friends and the entire international community. The state reserves will be soon completed with coal. And according to the model of the European states, the Energocom stock company will buy natural gas due to be stocked in warehouses from Romania.’’

Natalia Gavrilita said that, despite the challenges, Moldova remained a favourite destination for foreign investors: “I am glad that we have built and continue to build confidence bridges with the business environment. In the last two years alone, we have managed to attract more investment projects from such countries as Belgium, the Netherlands, Turkey, USA, Germany, Lithuania and the United Kingdom. Such sectors as the information technology and communications, externalized services for business, research and development, production of electronic devices and of renewable energy – become quite attractive for investors.’’

In this respect, the PM emphasized the actions undertaken by the authorities to simplify the work of the entrepreneurs, to reduce at a maximum the business’ costs and the access to the infrastructure needed.

„The status of country candidate for accession to EU, got by Moldova on 23 June, is an impetus on the way of our development and progress. We will continue implementing advanced solutions of the economy’s digitalization, of promoting the electronic trade and will regulate the fiscal normative framework where necessary. We permanently revise the present requirements, remove the burden of state control and the unjustified sanctions, optimize the interaction between the business and authorities, including through the digitalization of processes and the relations between business, authorities and citizens, in order to make possible the starting and carrying out of businesses online,’’ the prime minister added.

In the end, the PM urged the participants in the event to discover all facilities and opportunities provided by Moldova and to dare to invest in a small, but dynamic market and which is continuously consolidating, just as the one of Moldova is.
