Prime Minister Ion Chicu paid a working visit to the Parcani village, northern Soroca district, after he had received more signals on behalf of mayors on delays of in the roads’ repair works within the project, Good Roads for Everybody. Attending the meeting were the mayors of the villages Parcani, Oclanda, Septelici and other representatives of local public authorities.

According to the mayors, the roads’ repair works have been already finished in 23 villages of this district. In 8 settlements, the process of infrastructure’s restoration continues and the works still have not started in seven villages. Mayors have not turned to account about 8 million lei.   

"We have assurances on behalf of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI), State Administration of Roads and entrepreneurs that they will manage to turn to account and carry out these projects. The MEI secretary will manage the project in manual regime. We will be in permanent touch with these settlements, in order to monitor the march of the projects,’’ the PM said.  

As much as 37.5 million lei was earmarked for the rehabilitation of roads in the Soroca district through the Good Roads programme for 2020.

The mayors presented the projects on settlements’ supply with water and sewerage systems. Such a project, recently implemented in the Parcani village, provides access to water for 15 villages (about 38,000 beneficiaries), having capacity to be extended. The local authorities asked for the cabinet’s support also to work out the project on the village’s connection to gas supply.   

The participants in the meeting stressed the need to repair the road Solcani-Onesti, which is in a lamentable state. The estimated value of the works is of 500 million lei. ‘’The earlier selected company has not fulfilled its obligations and we have to cancel the contract. We will have to contract another economic agent. In next November, there will be the decision by the European Investment Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for allocating this money. I hope that the works on this project will start next spring,’’ Ion Chicu said.   

At the same time, the prime minister showed interest in the situation in medicine in the Soroca district. The district head noted that all 13 medical institutions from the region were endowed with the needed medication and equipment.
