Prime Minister Pavel Filip met congressmen Pete Olson and David Price, co-chairs of the political support group for Moldova in the US Congress. The topics focused on Moldova’s progress in reforms and authorities’ determination to strengthen the dialogue with Western partners.

The premier welcomed the introduction on the agenda of the US Congress of the draft resolution on the promotion of USA-Moldova bilateral relations, promoted by the two congressmen. "We need the US support to ensure the Western course of the Republic of Moldova so that it becomes irreversible at the end of the term," Pavel Filip said.

At the same time, on 20 June a resolution by which the US Congress supports the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia in the effort to maintain territorial integrity and political sovereignty was also submitted to the House of Representatives.

Congressmen Pete Olson and David Price have reconfirmed the importance of the bilateral strategic dialogue, underlining the opportunity to expand the political support group for our country by promoting common objectives within several committees and on the agenda of US legislators.

The political support group for Moldova in the US Congress was set up on 13 June 2017, in order to maintain a permanent dialogue in the Moldovan-American partnership, as well as the role of Moldova in European security and energy in Eastern Europe.
