Meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian with Ambassador Thomas Lenk, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian settlement process

On July 8, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian held a working meeting with Ambassador Thomas Lenk, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process.

The discussions focused on the current state of the negotiations regarding the Transnistrian settlement, priority actions in the field of reintegration policies, as well as recent developments in key files on the agenda, in the context of the ongoing efforts of the Chișinău authorities to build confidence between the both banks of the Nistru River.

The importance of restoring free movement in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova was emphasized, along with ensuring unhindered access for journalists from the right bank of the Nistru River, providing adequate premises for Romanian-language schools, and eliminating the obstacles still faced by farmers in the Dubăsari district.

Deputy Prime Minister Serebrian stressed that the implementation of EU-harmonized standards across the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova will contribute to the reconstruction of unique national spaces and the inclusion of the Transnistrian region in the European course of the Republic of Moldova. In this context, the role of the European Union and development partners is becoming increasingly important.

Maintaining a constructive dialogue, regional peace and security, as well as addressing current issues in the interest of residents on both banks of the Nistru River, were highlighted as key priorities in advancing the Transnistrian settlement process.
