Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration with the heads of the Baltic states’ legislatures

On February 4, 2026, the Transnistrian settlement process, regional developments, and the multilateral assistance provided to residents on the left bank of the Nistru River and within the perimeter of the Security Zone were discussed during the meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, and a delegation of the Baltic states’ legislatures. The delegation was led by the Speaker of the Riigikogu of the Republic of Estonia, Lauri Hussar, the Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia, Daiga Mieriņa, and the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Juozas Olekas.

During the dialogue, the importance of maintaining external support for initiatives aimed at improving living conditions for citizens on both banks of the Nistru River was underscored, along with the promotion of confidence-building activities and the dissemination of democratic values, accurate public information on the substance and benefits of the country’s reintegration policies, and support for government efforts to restore unified national spaces.

Representatives of the Baltic states’ legislatures welcomed the progress achieved by the national public authorities in advancing social and economic reintegration policies, expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation in various areas of common interest, and reaffirmed their firm support for the priorities promoted by the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
