The meeting focused on the current situation in the Transnistrian settlement process, as well as on the measures undertaken by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to gradually reintegrate the country, including the implementation of new tax regulations and the strengthening of socio-economic cohesion. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of these measures for ensuring equal conditions for economic activity and reducing disparities between both banks of the Nistru River.
Particular attention was paid to projects with a direct impact on the quality of life of citizens, which are planned to be implemented through the Convergence Fund. In this context, Valeriu Chiveri stressed the need to develop public services in the social and medical fields in the Transnistrian region and the municipality of Bender, in order to meet the needs of the residents and facilitate their access to assistance and support. The establishment of a Family Doctor Center in the municipality of Bender was noted as a concrete solution to expand the access of the region's residents to primary healthcare. At the same time, the initiative to upgrade the wastewater treatment plant in the municipality of Bender through the Convergence Fund, with the support of development partners, would contribute to improving the environmental situation and ensuring quality wastewater treatment services for the residents of the municipality and neighboring localities.
During the dialogue, the problematic aspects related to respect for the fundamental rights and freedoms of residents of the Transnistrian region were also addressed, with an emphasis on ensuring the free movement of people, goods and commodities, guaranteeing the right to education, protecting freedom of expression, and eliminating unlawful practices that violate these rights. Regarding educational institutions with instruction in the Romanian language, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the need for a definitive solution to the issue of premises for the “Evrica” Theoretical Lyceum in the town of Râbnița and the “Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt” Theoretical Lyceum, ensuring the conditions for the return to the town of Grigoriopol.
Valeriu Chiveri confirmed the importance of the European Union's support for the country's reintegration policies and initiatives that bring concrete benefits to the residents of both banks of the Nistru River, with a view to a peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
