Seven more doctors from the left bank of Nistru will be temporarily accommodated on the right bank, in the localities where they work

Another seven doctors living in the Transnistrian region, but working in medical institutions on the right bank of Nistru, will be temporarily accommodated in the localities where they work. An order in this regard was issued by the relevant Ministry on 5 May, following the consent of the medical personnel. The concerned medical institutions are: Orhei District Hospital, Rezina District Hospital, Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) Substation in Criuleni and Causeni District Hospital.

This solution was identified as a result of the unilateral illegal actions of the Transnistrian side to restrict free movement and to impose a 14-days self-isolation for anyone entering the region. The Bureau of Reintegration received 95 complaints from local public authorities in the Security Zone about the impediments imposed by the Transnistrian side on medical staff.

Accommodation and other administrative costs for doctors are covered with the support of the European Union, provided through the Confidence Building Measures Program on both banks of Nistru, and implemented by the UNDP Moldova.

Accommodation of doctors in the localities where they work is based on voluntary consent. So far, other doctors from seven districts are among the beneficiaries.

"The issue of free movement for people and officials becomes unsustainable not only for doctors but also for other categories of people. The pretext of the pandemic, used to curb human rights, is a topic that deserves the attention of development partners, institutions and international human rights organizations in order to reset the priorities on the negotiation agenda", declared the Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic.

Previously, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration requested the Transnistrian side to allow free movement of doctors, and after the refusal, she notified the mediators of the Transnistrian conflict settlement process and the relevant international structures.
