Working Groups for documentation of the population and civil status documents met within a videoconference

The Working Groups for documentation of the population and civil status documents met today within a videoconference to discuss the issues regarding provision of civil status services for the inhabitants from the left bank of Nistru and Bender municipality.

Chisinau mentioned that the issuance of civil status documents by the Public Services Agency at the request of the inhabitants from the Transnistrian region was and remains a continuous process, carried out in order to ensure the rights and freedoms of these citizens and provide them with national documents.

The need to identify a mechanism for confirming information on births and deaths in the Transnistrian region was reaffirmed, in order to operate with truthful data when documenting the inhabitants of the region and to make the necessary updates in the State Population Register.

The Moldovan side stated that it is essential to respect the requirements regarding protection of personal data in this process.

The exchange of views on these and other current issues will continue at the next meeting, which will be agreed further on.
