Prime Minister Ion Chicu chaired a meeting of the Single Command Centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.

Interior Minister Pavel Voicu informed that over 9,000 employees of all Interior Ministry’s structures were involved in activities of maintaining the public order, ensuring the missions of quarantine and checking the people under supervision.  

As many as 1,965 people have entered Moldova in the last 24 hours, of whom 246 entered through the Chisinau International Airport. Two people with fever were taken over by the 112 service directly from the airport. All persons who came to Moldova were demanded to observe the self-isolation conditions. Policemen in the last 24 hours verified 5,127 persons under supervision. Eleven persons who infringed the isolation regime and two economic agents which violated the restrictions imposed by the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) were identified.  

Defence Minister Alexandru Pinzari said that 100 servicemen were involved in the preparation of the COVID-19 hospital from the Moldexpo Exhibition Centre. The Defence Ministry is prepared to receive and treat 100 patients infected with the new virus.

Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu informed that, in the last 24 hours, 329 samples had been investigated and 70 cases of infection with COVID-19 were confirmed. Two cases are of import and 68 – with local transmission. Most confirmed cases were from the Chisinau city - 33, Stefan Voda district – 10 and Soroca – 4. As many as 423 infection cases have been detected so far.

The members of the Single Command Centre considered additional ways, through which competent authorities are to make a more thorough verification at the entrance in Moldova, so that the probability of the infection’s local transmission be reduced.
