Moldova fully covers domestic consumption of eggs, achieves record growth in exports to European Union

The export of chicken eggs for consumption to the European Union market has reached almost 11 million pieces in the first half of 2025. This is a significant increase, following Moldova's acquisition, in 2023, of the right to export eggs to the EU market.
Thus, the number of eggs exported to the European market increased from 9,000 pieces in 2024 to 10,777,060 as of July 1, 2025.
At the same time, the volume of eggs delivered to the non-EU market also increased. While in 2022, 6,421,680 eggs were exported, in the first six months of the current year, this number almost doubled to 12,229,560 pieces.
On the other hand, the production of eggs to supply demand on the domestic market also increased, leading to a significant reduction in imports of eggs. The volume of imported eggs has dropped by more than 20 times over the past four years. While in 2022, Moldova imported 18,280,800 eggs, this year, only 868,160 pieces were brought in.
Moldova obtained the right to export consumer eggs (Class A) to the European Union market in 2023, with the first batch delivered to the EU market in October 2024.
