The Meeting of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri with the Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Marko Shevchenko

On 23 February, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a meeting with the Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Marko Shevchenko, Kyiv’s representative in the Transnistrian settlement negotiations, accompanied by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova, Păun Rohovei.

During the meeting, the current situation in the Transnistrian file, developments in the region, as well as Chișinău's visions regarding the resolution of existing problems, in order to stimulate the country's reintegration policies, aimed at bringing the two banks of the Nistru River closer together, were discussed.

At the same time, the two officials reviewed the progress and prospects of bilateral cooperation, highlighting the importance of strengthening economic interaction and making full use of the existing potential within the Moldovan–Ukrainian Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic and Trade Collaboration.

Ambassador Marko Shevchenko reiterated Ukraine’s firm support for a comprehensive, peaceful, and sustainable settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, while at the same time advancing toward the achievement of the country’s strategic objective of European integration.
