The Commission for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Moldova (CES) continues to support the citizens of the Security Zone and the Transnistrian region through a series of concrete measures aimed at ensuring the continuity of the educational process and responding to the challenges generated by the energy crisis.

In order to respond to the risks generated by the energy crisis and in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 1 of the CES Decision no. 4 of 16 January 2025, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations will access the instruments of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism for requesting international assistance. In this context, educational and social institutions located in settlements vulnerable to the risks of stopping the supply of electricity and natural gas will benefit from 72 electric generators.

Pursuant to the provisions of paragraph 2 of the CES Decision no. 4/2025, in order to ensure the continuity of the educational process, the Ministry of Education and Research will distribute to 9 educational institutions 350 tablets, intended also for educational institutions with teaching in Romanian in the Transnistrian region and for those within the Security Zone perimeter.

In addition, according to paragraph 3 of the above-mentioned Decision, in order to support enterprises and communities in these regions in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries and processing industry, the Government has established a mechanism for partially compensating the price differences for electricity. The measure aims to mitigate the financial impact on institutions and households because of increases in regulated energy prices.

All these actions reflect the firm commitment of the constitutional authorities to support the inhabitants of the Security Zone and the Transnistrian region, through concrete measures and interventions offering efficient solutions adapted to the current needs. Chișinău reaffirms that it will continue to adopt concrete measures and interventions for the benefit of citizens in this perimeter and expresses its openness to receive requests that include lists of assistance needs in order to overcome the current crisis and ensure a decent living for all affected citizens.
