356,000 residents from the transnistrian region are citizens of the Republic of Moldova, and nearly 465,000 are registered in the state population registry.

Information received from the Public Services Agency reveals that as of September 13 (2023),  364986 residents domiciled in the left bank of the Nistru River and the city of Bender were registered in the State Population Registry. Among them, 355934 had Moldovan citizenship, 334444 had Moldovan citizen passports, and 298207 had identity cards.

 

During the period from January 1 to September 14, (2023), 2187 residents from the transnistrian region benefited from facilitation in obtaining the identity card of a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, and 354 received provisional identity cards.

 

It is worth noting that under the simplified procedure for acquiring Moldovan citizenship (based on written consent and civil status documents proving birth on the country's territory), 34090 individuals were recognized as citizens of the Republic of Moldova between April 19 (2018), and September 14 (2023). Out of these, 23465 (approximately 69%) are residents of the left bank of the Nistru River and the city of Bender who have already obtained identity documents as Moldovan citizens.

 

During the months of January to August (2023), 5798 individuals from the region requested the certification of civil status facts, resulting in the issuance of 6195 civil status documents for them, along with 4491 duplicates issued due to repeated requests.
