Authorities of the Republic of Moldova Condemn the Conduct of Illegal Military Activities in the Security Zone

The authorities of the Republic of Moldova have taken note with concern of information appearing in the media of the Transnistrian region regarding the organization by the Tiraspol structures, in interaction with the Operational Group of Russian Forces, illegally stationed on the territory of the country, of a so-called reenactment of the Jassy-Kishinev Operation of World War II.
The event, conducted unlawfully on the bank of the Nistru River in the city of Tiraspol, involved approximately 16 units of military equipment, 13 artillery pieces, training ammunition, and pyrotechnic materials. These unilateral military actions carried out within the perimeter of the Security Zone constitute a blatant violation of the special regime established for this perimeter and undermine the peacekeeping mission on the Nistru River.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the Joint Control Commission, through its component within the Joint Military Command, requested the deployment of military observers to the site in order to document the situation. This request, provided for by the regulations, was blocked by representatives of the military structures representing Tiraspol and the Russian Federation.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the Joint Control Commission strongly condemns these provocations, which jeopardize stability and security in the region, and demands the immediate cessation of any military activities within the Security Zone. At the same time, it calls for strict compliance with the obligations established by the Agreement of 21 July 1992 on the Principles of the Peaceful Settlement of the Armed Conflict in the Transnistrian Region of the Republic of Moldova.
