Cases of limitation of access of the OSCE Mission to objects of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, discussed at the Joint Control Commission

At the meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) held on June 13 in Bender, the weekly report of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone was heard.
Representatives of the OSCE Mission to Moldova reported that on 10 June this year they intended to visit several units of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (JPKF), deployed in Varnița, Bender and Grigoriopol. Although the Commission had been previously notified of this intention, the exponents of the military contingents of the Russian Federation and the Transnistrian region did not allow them access to the military objects. In this context, the OSCE Mission expressed its regret over this unfounded ban.
At the same time, gratitude was expressed to the leadership of the military contingent of the Republic of Moldova for openness and transparency in interaction on aspects related to the peacekeeping operation.
It should be noted that the OSCE Mission has the right to visit the JPKF objects, based on the Principles of Cooperation with the Joint Control Commission signed on December 10, 2004.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova expressed its position that it is inadmissible to submit any conditionalities that would impede the fulfillment of the tasks of the OSCE Mission in the Security Zone, and called for abandoning a distorted interpretation of the fundamental acts of the peacekeeping operation on the Nistru River.
During the meeting, the Commission discussed organizational issues, appointing new representatives of the delegations as military observers, members and experts in connection with the end of the mandate of the previous ones.
