Cases of violation of the Security Zone regime reported to the Joint Control Commission

The Joint Control Commission met in a weekly meeting in Bender on April 20, 2023.

Discussions continued regarding the illegal posts of the Transnistrian force structures and the necessity to remove them from the Security Zone.

The delegation of the Republic of Moldova addressed the cases repeatedly produced at the posts of the Mixed Peacekeeping Forces, with the unjustified stopping of the citizens' means of transport, especially those owned by the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Moldova. The Moldovan delegation requested the exclusion of similar cases in the future.

Also, the representatives of Chisinau, through a statement, signaled the violations of the Security Zone regime admitted by the military contingent of the Russian Federation within the Joint Peacekeeping Forces. Such cases were recorded in the current February-April period and were characterized by the uncoordinated with the Unified Control Commission movement of armored military equipment outside the range of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces posts.

It was emphasized that the incidents had repercussions in society and amplified the dissatisfaction of the residents of the Security Zone who are periodically subjected to groundless stops with excessive checks of documents and transport units.

The delegation of the Republic of Moldova qualifies this defiance of the documents of the peacekeeping mission as provocative and appeals to the military contingent of the Russian Federation to cease the destabilizing actions and contribute to keeping peace on the banks of the Nistru River.
