Comment from the Bureau for Reintegration Policies

In the context of the recent incident in the Transnistrian region involving a military helicopter, the Bureau for Reintegration Policies states the following.

The competent institutions of the Republic of Moldova carefully analyzed the video images broadcast on various social networks and in the media on the left bank of the Nistru River. The following conclusions have been drawn from the analyses carried out and the information gathered:

-  The published materials contain obvious video montage elements, indicating that the helicopter fire was caused by factors other than the drone appearing in the images;

-  The incident was deliberately provoked in order to create panic and maintain tension in society on both banks of the Nistru River.

From available information, it is important to inform the public that in the coming period several such actions are being planned by the Russian Federation, within the perimeter of the Transnistrian region and the Security Zone. In the absence of the possibility to attack the Republic of Moldova militarily, such actions aim to increase panic, induce distrust in society and weaken the economy. We stress that such actions have no real consequences and do not pose a real danger to citizens, but are planned only to scare people.

The competent authorities of the Republic of Moldova, in cooperation with foreign partners, shall carefully monitor the situation in the region in order to maintain stability and prevent new provocations.
