Comment of the Bureau for Reintegration Policies on the release of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova Victor Pleșcanov from illegal detention

The Bureau for Reintegration Policies welcomes the release from illegal detention of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova Victor Pleșcanov, who was deprived of his liberty on June 10, 2022 by the force structures from Tiraspol.

This case was kept in the permanent attention of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and the Bureau for Reintegration Policies, undertaking all possible efforts jointly with the foreign partners and constantly raising the issue with the participants in the process of negotiations on Transnistrian settlement and the political representative from Tiraspol.

In our appeals we’ve always reiterated the demand for immediate and unconditional release of the citizen Pleșcanov V. from his illegal detention, restoration of his fundamental rights and freedoms and provision of the necessary medical care.

We would like to express our gratitude for the active involvement and cooperation on this case to the OSCE Mission in the Republic of Moldova, to the embassies of the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the European Union member states in the Republic of Moldova, to the Association “Promo-LEX”, to the human rights defenders and to all those who have constantly publicized and monitored the case, contributing to the release of Pleșcanov V.

We repeatedly urge Tiraspol to follow up on our calls on other individual cases of resonance, according to the examples of Pleșcanov V. and Glijin A., with the immediate release of the other citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are illegally imprisoned and persecuted in the region: Dimov Al., Menzarari S., Dudnic Vl., Ermurachi M., Malîșev A., Pogorlețchii V. etc.
