Comment on the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee to hold football matches in Tiraspol

In the context of the decision of the Executive Committee of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to allow the European football cup games to be held in Tiraspol and the placement of a press release in this regard, also rebroadcast by the Moldovan Football Federation (FMF), the Reintegration Policies Bureau states the following.

The Bureau notified the FMF, expressing concern about messages broadcast in the media, which claim that the UEFA Administration established an alleged direct interaction with "local authorities in the Transnistrian region and obtained security guarantees" for the good running of the football cups in Tiraspol.

The Moldovan Football Federation was warned that in the context of the unresolved Transnistrian conflict and the lack of effective control in the region, formal communication with Tiraspol could take place exclusively through the Reintegration Policies Bureau within State Chancellery.

Likewise, the FMF was requested to intervene with UEFA in order to withdraw and correct the July 4 press release and the use of constitutional terminology, which does not affect the sovereign character and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
