The current state of the dialogue between Chișinău and Tiraspol has been discussed with the permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the OSCE and with the special representative of the Russian Federation in the process of negotiations regarding the Transnistrian settlement

On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, the Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration Oleg Serebrian had a meeting with the permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the OSCE, Ambassador Aleksandr Lukashevich, and with the special representative of the Russian Federation in the negotiation process regarding the Transnistrian settlement, Ambassador-at-Large Vitaly Tryapitsyn.

Among the topics of discussion were the current situation in the negotiation process regarding the Transnistrian settlement, the current issues on the dialogue agenda, the position of Chișinău on them and the positive actions of the national authorities in relation to the residents of the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.

Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian reiterated the fact that, in the context in which the activity of the "5+2" negotiation format is in a prolonged deadlock as a result of the war in Ukraine, the interaction is maintained in the dialogue platform of political representatives, sectoral working groups and the Joint Control Commission, within which, unfortunately, Tiraspol excessively politicizes most of the problems and does not contribute to overcoming them from the perspective of the interests of the residents on both banks of the Nistru River and the elimination of artificial barriers.

The need to avoid unnecessary outbreaks of tension, to build an environment of security and predictability, to avoid statements that spread uncertainty and panic to the public opinion was evoked. Tiraspol must accept a constructive dialogue, intended to lead to the reintegration of the country, to the solving of the economic and social problems of the citizens and to the restoration of the rule of law on the left side of the Nistru River.

"The Republic of Moldova pleads for the unconditional observance of the principle of the inviolability of borders, enshrined in the Helsinki Final Act. There can be no other lasting and legal solutions to the conflicts in Europe today. Unconditional respect for internationally recognized borders, peaceful settlement of disputes between states and respect for the rights of ethnic, linguistic and confessional minorities in full accordance with the rigors of the Council of Europe and the OSCE - these are the principles by which we must be guided. Peace and stability in Europe cannot be restored and preserved without respecting these principles," said Deputy Prime Minister Serebrian.
