The delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the Joint Control Commission denounces new intentions to destabilize the situation in the Security Area

In the evening of May 16, 2024, the Joint Military Command received a notification by which the component of the Russian Federation within the Joint Peacekeeping Forces informed that, between May 17 and June 17, 2024, it intends to check the operability of armored vehicles in motion at peacekeeping posts. The announcement came a few hours after the end of the meeting of the Joint Control Commission, at which this issue was not raised.
The Moldovan delegation condemns such „initiatives”, which are inopportune in the context of the regional security situation, but also abusive, given that they have not obtained the approval of the Joint Control Commission. The demonstrative and repeated carrying out of such uncoordinated actions is further evidence of a brutal violation of the principles of peacekeeping mission on the Nistru River.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova warns about the possible undesirable consequences of these provocative actions and calls on all components of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces to give up their implementation in order to avoid destabilization of the situation in the Security Zone.
