The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova raised the issue of circumstances complicating the work of the Joint Control Commission
The weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) took place on 18 June 2026 in Bender.
The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova presented its position regarding the factors that have led to a deterioration of the situation in the Security Zone and to the obstruction of the JCC’s work: the unlawful presence of posts operated by Transnistrian security structures on public roads, the stopping, registration, and unlawful inspections to which citizens crossing these posts are subjected, as well as obstacles preventing media representatives from the right bank of the Nistru River from accessing the work of the JCC in order to carry out their professional activities.
The representatives of Chișinău pointed to ongoing attempts by Tiraspol to politicize the work of the JCC and emphasized that, after many years of gross violations of the Agreement of 21 July 1992, the Transnistrian delegation openly expresses dissatisfaction even with the title of this document, in particular with the use of the phrase “Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.”
The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova proposed appealing to representatives of the OSCE Mission to Moldova and Ukraine within the Joint Control Commission to conduct an analysis of the activities of Transnistrian security structures at posts in the Security Zone and to assess their compliance with the foundational documents of the peacekeeping operation and with decisions adopted within the JCC framework.
The Chișinău delegation insists on including on the agenda the issue of the inadmissibility of the presence of so-called “border guards” in the Security Zone, as restrictions on freedom of movement of persons and goods, unjustified inspections, unlawful registration of citizens, as well as the ongoing expansion of the infrastructure of these posts constitute serious violations of human rights and destabilize the situation in the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.
