Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian attended the event dedicated to the completion of the UN Peacebuilding Fund project in the Republic of Moldova

On 19 February 2025, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian participated in the final event of the joint United Nations (UNDP, UN Women, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights Moldova) project entitled „Building sustainable and inclusive peace, strengthening trust and social cohesion on both banks of Nistru River”. During the event, the final results of the project, lessons learned and future directions for promoting stability and social cohesion in the Republic of Moldova were presented.
The project has had a significant impact on society, creating a favorable environment for improving interaction between both banks of the Nistru River, reducing social tensions, including through the continuation of the process of peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.
Among the main achievements is the increased capacity and commitment of civil society on both banks of the Nistru River, as well as relevant structures, in promoting international standards for the protection and observance of human rights. Also, a contribution was made to strengthening the capacity of the media, both national and local, to produce factual journalistic materials, respecting human rights principles and promoting tolerance, non-discrimination and pluralism of opinions (https://www.undp.org/moldova/projects/closed-building-sustainable-and-inclusive-peace-strengthening-trust-and-social-cohesion-both-banks-nistru-river).
Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian stressed the importance of such initiatives in the process of strengthening peace and social cohesion: „This project demonstrates the importance of cooperation and involvement of society in the peace-building process. The results obtained are a significant step towards a more stable and harmonious future for the Republic of Moldova.”
