Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian in dialogue with the Director-General of the European Commission for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST) Gert Jan Koopman

On 10 March 2025, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian met with the Director-General of the European Commission for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST) Gert Jan Koopman, accompanied by the Special Representative of the European Union (EU) in the Transnistrian Settlement Process, Ms Dorota Dlouhy-Suliga, and the Head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Janis Mažeiks.
The discussions focused on the current state of affairs in the Transnistrian region, Chișinău's priorities in promoting policies to reintegrate the country, the efforts being made to manage the energy crisis on both banks of the Nistru River, and the opportunities provided by the substantial EU assistance to the Republic of Moldova, including in the interests of residents of the eastern districts of the country.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration reiterated Chișinău's firm commitment to maintaining regional stability, providing humanitarian aid to vulnerable people in the Transnistrian region and improving the human rights situation in that area, in particular by resolving long-standing issues: eliminating barriers faced by farmers in Dubăsari district, providing adequate premises for schools teaching in Romanian, free movement to the left bank of the Nistru, unhindered access to the region for journalists from the right bank, etc.
Sincere gratitude was expressed to the EU for the multidimensional support provided to the Republic of Moldova and the general willingness to contribute to the gradual implementation of sectoral policies in the field of reintegration of the country from the perspective of achieving the strategic goal of European integration was confirmed.
