Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian in dialogue with members of the European Parliament's Committee on Security and Defence

On April 16, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian held a meeting with a delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE), led by MEP Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, who was on an official visit to Chișinău.
The discussions focused on the current situation in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, key developments in this perimeter, current socio-economic problems, as well as the support measures proposed by the Chișinău authorities were discussed. The Government's priorities in promoting policies for the reintegration of the country were outlined, starting with the restoration of economic unity between the two banks of the Nistru River.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian expressed regret over Tiraspol’s lack of openness to engaging in constructive dialogue with Chișinău and thanked the European Union for its assistance in the negotiation process, as well as its support in addressing the energy crisis that has severely affected the population and economy of the region. “This crisis has shown the citizens on the Left Bank of the Nistru River that the only solution to the problems they face is the restoration of national unity”. At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister confirmed the firm commitment of the Moldovan authorities to maintaining stability in the region and resolving the Transnistrian problem exclusively by peaceful means.
