The Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian had a meeting with Thomas Lenk, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process

On February 13, 2025, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian met with Thomas Lenk, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process.
Deputy Prime Minister Serebrian congratulated Ambassador Lenk on his appointment and wished him every success in the exercise of his mandate. At the same time, the Moldovan official expressed confidence that the OSCE will continue to play an active role in facilitating the dialogue between Chișinău and Tiraspol, supporting the solving of complex problems in the region.
The discussions focused on the current priorities in the field of reintegration policies of the country, reviewing the main developments and challenges within the Chișinău-Tiraspol dialogue. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the need to improve the conditions for free movement in the region, to eliminate unauthorized control posts in the Security Zone and to ensure the access of farmers from Dubăsari district to their agricultural land.
The human rights situation in the Transnistrian region was addressed, with a special focus on the release by Tiraspol of political prisoners and the proper functioning of educational institutions teaching in Romanian, providing them with suitable headquarters.
Another topic of discussion was the current energy crisis, highlighting the importance of effective coordination to minimize its impact on the population on both banks of the Nistru River.
Ambassador Thomas Lenk was informed about the expectations of the Moldovan authorities towards the OSCE, including in terms of supporting a constructive dialogue and identifying viable and sustainable solutions for strengthening the reintegration process of the country.
Agreement was reached on the importance of maintaining an open and coordinated communication on all essential aspects of the Transnistrian settlement, in order to advance on the path of lasting peace and stability in the Republic of Moldova.
