The Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration commemorated the heroes fallen in the armed conflict of 1992 defending the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova in Molovata Nouă and Cocieri

Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian participated today in the events honoring the Day of Remembrance and Gratitude towards those who fell in the armed conflict of 1992 for the defense of the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, its victims and veterans.

Together with representatives of the Parliament, the national police, peacekeeping units, local and central public administration and war veterans, the Deputy Prime Minister held a minute of silence for those who fell in the line of duty on the battlefield and laid flowers in front of the heroes' memorials in the Cocieri localities and Molovata Noua from Dubăsari district.

In the speeches delivered at the two events, Oleg Serebrian noted the importance of commemorating the devotion and courage of the fallen heroes in the war on the Dniester, stressing the need to promote patriotic values, but also to reduce the degree of division in society at a time when the neighboring country, Ukraine, is facing the brutality of unjustified aggression.

In person as well as on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the feeling of attachment and loyalty to the homeland of those who stood up 31 years ago in defense of the national values, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. "It's a day when we commemorate the fallen, we honor those who stood guard for independence, but it is also a day when we pay tribute to peace. We will do everything possible so that the horrors of the war will not be repeated in our country", said Oleg Serebrian.
