Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian attended the Roundtable on Human Rights in the Transnistrian Region

On February 20, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian took part in a round table where the Promo-LEX Association report “Human rights in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova – Retrospective 2024” was presented. The event was attended by representatives of state institutions, international organizations and civil society.
The Report provides a detailed analysis of the human rights situation in 2024, identifying the most frequent violations, including: the right to liberty and security of person, the right not to be subjected to torture, inhuman or degrading treatment, freedom of expression and access to necessary information, freedom of movement, the right to education etc.
During the event, Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian stressed the importance of continuous monitoring of the human rights situation in the Transnistrian region and the need to consolidate efforts to protect and promote these rights. At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Moldova to ensure compliance with international standards regarding the fundamental rights and freedoms of all citizens.
Participants in the discussions outlined the need for closer interaction between the authorities, international organizations and civil society to improve the human rights situation in the region. Recommendations were also formulated regarding specific measures to prevent and suppress the violations indicated in the Report.
