Discussions between the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process

On 14 July 2026, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a meeting with Thomas Lenk, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process, accompanied by Izabela Sylwia Hartmann, Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

The meeting addressed the most important issues affecting the residents of both banks of the Nistru River, as well as the measures undertaken by Chișinău to address them, including ensuring prompt action to protect fundamental human rights and freedoms.

It was reiterated that the authorities of the Republic of Moldova continue to consolidate reintegration policies and to expand the provision of quality public services in the eastern districts of the country and for a broader range of beneficiaries within the respective perimeter. In this context, details were presented regarding the entry into force of the Convergence Fund in the near future.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that sectoral reintegration processes are developing, this dynamic is reflected in the growth of relevant indicators, and the overwhelming majority of the population of the Transnistrian region supports the strategic objective of restoring unified national spaces.

Alongside this, an appeal was made to the OSCE to use its full available potential to eliminate artificial barriers maintained by Tiraspol to free movement, address individual cases of human rights violations in the Transnistrian region, and reaffirm support for the model of peaceful and final settlement of the conflict, based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
