Issues considered by the Joint Control Commission

At the meeting of March 20, 2025 in Bender, the members of the Joint Control Commission approved two new military observers as part of the Republic of Moldova’s contingent in the Mixed Peacekeeping Forces.

However, the main topic of discussion was related to monitoring the withdrawal from the Security Zone of posts and fortifications illegally established in 2022 by Tiraspol security structures. The Commission took note of the factual statements made on the ground by the military observers of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, as well as the clarifying answers from the representatives of the Transnistrian region.

Therefore, the reports of the Joint Military Command from 2022 to the present were approved, which referred to the aforementioned posts.

In the same context, by today's decision of the Joint Control Commission, the Joint Military Command was tasked with continuously monitoring Tiraspol's compliance with the commitment assumed in relation to the posts and fortifications and to regularly document the obstacles to free movement in the Security Zone.

The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the Joint Control Commission will keep this issue in attention and will react promptly to any possible worsening of the situation in this regard.
