Joint Control Commission Convened in Bender

At the meeting of the Joint Control Commission on June 5, 2025, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova made a statement regarding the alleged incident in Varnița on May 26 of this year, which had been discussed in the media of the Transnistrian region last week.
The competent law enforcement authorities promptly responded to the alert received via the „112” emergency number, interviewed local residents, and investigated on-site the circumstances presented by the Transnistrian delegation.
As a result of the swift measures taken, the reported claims were not confirmed. A number of inconsistencies were identified, including those from the citizen who reported the alleged “shooting incident on the left bank of the Nistru River.”
Thus, inaccurate information was used in violation of the fundamental documents of the Joint Control Commission for propaganda purposes by representatives of Tiraspol, in an attempt to destabilize the situation in the Security Zone.
The Chișinău representatives in the Commission demanded a retraction of the disseminated fabrications, the future publication of only thoroughly verified information, and a continued commitment to an objective presentation of the Commission's activities, the actions of the peacekeeping forces, and the situation in the Security Zone.
