Measures taken by public authorities to ensure uninterrupted and reliable power supply to consumers in the settlements of Varniţa, Anenii Noi district, and Copanca, Căușeni district

As a result of the unilateral termination of natural gas supplies to the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova by the Russian concern „Gazprom” from January 1, 2025, some settlements under the jurisdiction of constitutional authorities connected to the electricity distribution networks on the left bank of the Nistru River were exposed to inevitable associated risks, which required public authorities to take prompt measures aimed at ensuring increased energy resilience and providing the necessary support to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova affected by the crisis.
In this regard, during the state of emergency (December 16, 2024 – February 13, 2025), declared by the Parliament Decision No. 286/2024, the Commission for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Moldova (CES) adopted a series of urgent measures to effectively manage the energy crisis and mitigate its negative impact on citizens and institutions in the settlements located in the Security Zone.
Thus, following the adoption of the Disposition of the CES No. 3 dated January 06, 2025, „Premier Energy Distribution” took the necessary actions to connect the distribution networks in the villages of Varnița, Anenii Noi district and Copanca, Căușeni district to its own electricity distribution networks. Accordingly, a medium voltage (10 kV) power transmission line of about 8 km in the direction of the village of Varnița was built, installing a 10/6 kV communication transformer, as well as a section of a medium voltage (10 kV) power transmission line of about 1 km in the direction of the village of Copanca. The constructed power grids have been tested and can be put into operation in reserve mode in case of emergency.
The measures taken by the state authorities have increased energy sustainability and significantly reduced the risks associated with energy security, with a direct impact on citizens and institutions in the villages of Varniţa and Copanca, guaranteeing the continuity and reliability of electricity supply to consumers in these settlements in the event of emergency situations.
