On May 19, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, held a meeting with Michael Roux, Ambassador for the Eastern Partnership and the Black Sea within the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, accompanied by H.E. Dominique Waag, Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Moldova.
During the discussions, the main topics addressed included the negotiation process for the Transnistrian settlement, as well as the most pressing issues affecting both banks of the Nistru River. The priorities of Chișinău in promoting national reintegration policies and the measures implemented to tackle existing challenges were also presented. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his regret that Tiraspol continues to boycott dialogue in the „1+1” format and the Working Groups.
Furthermore, referring to the energy crisis that severely affected the eastern districts of the Republic of Moldova last winter, Oleg Serebrian emphasized that Chișinău had done everything possible to find a solution to the problem caused by the Russian supplier „Gazprom”, in the best interest of our citizens in that region. He once again thanked the European partners for their financial, logistical, and moral support in overcoming this issue, and expressed his belief that the only viable and sustainable solution for the energy sector in the eastern districts is for Tiraspol to accept the support offered by Chișinău and its European partners.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian expressed gratitude to the French side for its constant and consistent support to the Republic of Moldova in its efforts toward the reintegration of the country and the European integration process, emphasizing the importance of this strategic partnership for strengthening the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova and maintaining regional stability.
