Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian with the Ambassador of Latvia to the Republic of Moldova Uldis Mikuts

During the meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian and the Ambassador of Latvia to the Republic of Moldova Uldis Mikuts a review of the current situation in the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol was made, as well as of the issues addressed and the positions of the Moldovan authorities on how to resolve them and the perspectives of promotion of the process of negotiations.

Concerns were expressed about the complicated state of human rights in the Transnistrian region and the long-standing restrictions on free movement maintained by Tiraspol, the urgent need to bring the situation within the limits of normality and legality being declared.

The issues of regional security were also discussed, as well as the efforts that are and will continue to be made in order to avoid crisis situations and risks to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries.
