Meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian with the Head of the Europe and Middle East Department of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation

On April 10, 2025, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, held a working meeting with Mr. Didier Chassot, Deputy Director General and Head of the Europe and Middle East Department of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), who was on a fact-finding visit to the Republic of Moldova, accompanied by the Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in the Republic of Moldova, Guido Beltrani.

During the dialogue, the current state of affairs in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement was discussed, with an emphasis on the commitment of the Chișinău authorities to maintaining stability and security on both banks of the Nistru River through a balanced, open and solutions-oriented approach. The officials stressed the importance of continuing confidence-building projects, primarily in the social sphere, education, culture, sports, healthcare and increasing the resilience of the Republic of Moldova, including in the energy security sector.

A separate topic of discussion was bilateral cooperation and potential joint activities in the context of the future OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office, which will be assumed by the Swiss Confederation in 2026, with an emphasis on promoting common goals to strengthen peace and facilitate the country's reintegration process.

Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian expressed gratitude for the continuous support provided by Switzerland to all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, as well as for the Agency’s contribution to sustainable development and social cohesion throughout the country.
