The meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian with the Special Representative of the European Union in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement, Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga

On April 9, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian held a working meeting with the Special Representative of the European Union (EU) in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement, Mrs. Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga.
The officials discussed current issues related to the Transnistrian settlement, Chișinău’s approaches to addressing them, as well as current priorities in the country’s reintegration policies.
It was emphasized that given the complexity of the Transnistrian file, the need to address urgent issues in the interests of residents on both sides of the Nistru River, and the need to direct processes towards the strategic goal of reunifying the Republic of Moldova, there is a need for consolidated efforts from both Chișinău and Brussels.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian noted that EU standards and legislation transposed throughout the country will stimulate the reconstitution of unique national spaces and integrate the Transnistrian region into the European path of the Republic of Moldova, and, in turn, a more significant role of the EU and development partners will support the consistent efforts of the Chișinău authorities.
Avoiding crises and maintaining sustainable socio-economic development are essential elements in the process, which will remain a permanent focus of the EU and the Republic of Moldova.
