Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration with the co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

Today, 6 February 2024, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian had a working meeting with the co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
During the discussions, the officials reviewed the main aspects of the Transnistrian settlement process, including the dialogue formats between Chișinău and Tiraspol, as well as the efforts made by the Moldovan authorities in solving the current problems of residents on both banks of the Nistru River.
The process of mass documentation of residents of the Transnistrian region with acts certifying the identity of a citizen of the Republic of Moldova and economic agents of the region with permissive acts of national model was noted, which denotes significant progress in the social-economic reintegration of the two banks.
Issues related to the precarious human rights situation in the Transnistrian region and the situation of Romanian-teaching schools were addressed, emphasizing the importance of respecting inalienable rights in accordance with universally guaranteed standards.
Regarding the positions of the Republic of Moldova on current issues, the determination of the Chișinău authorities to promote a peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and maintain a calm and predictable situation in the region was highlighted.
