The meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration with the members of the Working Group of the Council of the European Union for Eastern Europe and Central Asia

On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian held a meeting with the members of the Working Group of the Council of the European Union for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
The dialogue focused on the current situation in the Transnistrian settlement process, the dynamics in the interaction formats between Chișinău and Tiraspol, topical issues on the agenda, as well as those that are in the process of being resolved, priority measures of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova in promoting effective and attractive policies in the field of reintegration on both banks of the Nistru River.
Maintaining constant dialogue, a peaceful, stable, and regionally calm atmosphere, avoiding the involvement of the eastern districts of the country in destabilization scenarios, as well as the optimal management of emerging challenges were mentioned as significant results.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian noted the increasingly important role of the European Union (EU) in supporting the settlement process, which, following the granting of candidate country status to the Republic of Moldova and in light of the jointly assumed commitments, should be increased, including in terms of the uniformization of social economic and fiscal standards, as well as in the field of politics and security.
It was mentioned that the residents and entrepreneurs in the region are an illustrative example of socio-economic reintegration, including as a result of the incentives provided by the EU, given that the majority of them possess national model documents, conduct foreign trade activities legally, benefit from efficient public services, and actively participate in the processes promoted by the constitutional authorities.
