Meeting of the Head of the Reintegration Policies Bureau Alin Gvidiani with Arthur Paul Massaro, senior policy advisor for the US Helsinki Commission
On Friday, March 31, 2023, Head of the Reintegration Policies Bureau Alin Gvidiani had a working meeting with Arthur Paul Massaro, Senior Policy Advisor for the US Helsinki Commission.
During the dialogue, the head of the Bureau referred to the interaction formats established in the Transnistrian settlement process and the communication platforms between Chișinău and Tiraspol, the current government priorities in promoting the reintegration policies of the country, the positive actions of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova in relation to the inhabitants of both banks of the Nistru River.
Attention was drawn to the alarming situation of human rights in the Transnistrian region, where universally guaranteed rights and freedoms are seriously and systematically violated (free movement, freedom of expression, property rights, education in the native language, access to truthful and relevant information public, illegal deprivation of freedom of citizens, unauthorized processing of personal data, etc.) and the necessity to intervene with all available levers in order to protect citizens who are victims of abuses, in accordance with the standards of international law was mentioned.
The firm determination of the national authorities to achieve settlement of the Transnistrian conflict exclusively by peaceful and political means was reiterated. This should happen in the formula of the unitary, functional and indivisible state of the Republic of Moldova, with the restoration of single national spaces and the completion of the commitments and structural reforms undertaken throughout the entire territory of the country.
