Meeting of the Joint Control Commission on October 5, 2023
The Joint Control Commission continued the examination of current issues regarding the situation in the Security Zone and the functionality of the peacekeeping operation mechanisms on the Nistru River.
On the subject of the identification on September 25-26, 2023 in the village of Chițcani of alleged rocket fragments and their storage in the territory not controlled by the state authorities, the request of Chișinău to examine the circumstances of the case in all its aspects was reiterated.
The Tiraspol exponents were made aware to the fact that the incidents in the Security Zone must be communicated correctly, in accordance with the real situation, and it is inadmissible to make unfounded statements in the media about the possible belonging of the detected objects, in the absence of accurate findings.
This case was also reflected in the monthly monitoring report of the Security Zone, presented by the representatives of the OSCE Mission to the Commission. The officials of this international organization mentioned that on September 25 they traveled to Chițcani to research the area, but were informed that the Transnistrian force structures had evacuated the fragments.
The formalization of a consensual decision of the Joint Control Commission on the said incident is further artificially delayed by the delegation of the Transnistrian region.
