Meeting of the top leadership of the Republic of Moldova with representatives of local public authorities in the Security Zone

09 January 2025 Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian made a working visit to Varnița, together with President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

During the visit, the officials discussed with local public authorities of the settlements in the Security Zone, affected by the energy situation in the Transnistrian region of the Republic.

During the dialogue, following the increasingly complicated situation in the energy field in the Transnistrian region, ways of intervention and assistance were reviewed to ensure, first of all, the protection of people from high-risk groups, the proper functioning of national institutions interconnected with the natural gas delivery and electricity supply systems on the left bank of the Nistru River and in Bender municipality.

The mayors were informed that, in order to reduce the dependence of these localities on Tiraspol, in accordance with the Decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) of 6 January 2025, „Premier Energy” would create the necessary energy infrastructure to connect the villages of Varniţa and Copanca, while the villages of Pohrebea, Coşniţa, Pîrîta, Doroţcaia, Molovata Nouă, Roghi, Cocieri, Corjova and Vasilievca in Dubăsari district, Hîrbovăț and Varniţa in Anenii Noi district, as well as Fîrlădeni, Hagimus and Copanca in Căușeni district would be connected to the natural gas networks managed by the right bank.

„The Government of the Republic of Moldova stands by its citizens, regardless of the region they are in, contrary to what is said and reported in the Tiraspol-controlled media. We will help these people, we will intervene with rapid assistance, in these difficult moments”, mentioned Oleg Serebrian in the press briefing after the meeting in Varnița.

The visit of officials to Varnița also included visiting the schools and cultural institutions of the district and familiarizing them with their activities and needs.

Previously, following the CSE Decision, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations offered 3 power generators, which were transported by rescuers to the village of Cocieri, Dubăsari district, where they will ensure the operation of the water supply system of the locality, but also of the kindergarten-nursery „Garofița”. Another 4 devices were delivered in Varniţa, Anenii Noi district, to ensure the functionality of the kindergarten „Romaniţa”, Varniţa Theoretical Lyceum, Varniţa mayor’s hall, but also the multifunctional community center „Asclepio”. In addition, 233.000 lei were allocated from the Government's Intervention Fund for the diesel fuel necessary for the operation of the generators, but also for the pellets of the boiler room of the Varnița Theoretical Lyceum.
