More than 23 thousand residents of the Transnistrian region are officially employed on the right bank of the Nistru River

According to data from the State Tax Service, 23,029 individuals residing in the Transnistrian region were registered as officially employed workers on the right bank of the Nistru River during the first half of 2026. Of these, 57.28% were men (13,190 individuals) and 42.72% were women (9,839 individuals), representing a 66.8% increase compared with the same period of the previous year, when 13,810 individuals were registered.

The geographical distribution of workplaces shows a significant concentration of workers from the Transnistrian region in the municipality of Chișinău, which accounts for more than 72% of their total number. A significant proportion of these workers reside in Bender (28.5%), Tiraspol (13.9%), Rîbnița (12%), Dubăsari (8.95%), and Grigoriopol (4%).

In terms of professional preferences, the main sectors in which workers from the region are employed include:

Trade: retail trade (particularly in non-specialized food stores), as well as wholesale trade in construction materials.  

Manufacturing and industry: production of electrical and electronic cables, clothing, and furniture. 

Construction and transport: road freight transport and building construction. 

Public sector and services: general secondary education, medical services (inpatient healthcare), public administration, public order and civil protection, the IT sector (software development), the HoReCa sector (restaurants), as well as vehicle repair and maintenance services. 

The growth in these figures confirms the ongoing and sustained process of the socio-economic integration of residents of the Transnistrian region into the labour market of the Republic of Moldova. 

Official employment provides residents of the left bank of Nistru River and Bender municipality with important social guarantees, including safe working conditions, access to paid leave, legal protection, and competitive income levels. 

The increasingly visible integration into the labour market demonstrates that residents of the left bank of the Nistru River and Bender municipality are directly contributing to the socio-economic development of the Republic of Moldova. By working in key sectors and paying the corresponding contributions, they contribute to the sustainability of the state budget and support the country’s economic growth.
